Hi. Give me a minute and see if you know what I'm talking about.
For at least a couple decades there has been a steady flow of cheap, electronic noise-making products. The funny thing is, they all seem to use the same chip with its group of 4 to 8 low-sample-rate sounds. These chips can be found in toy guns, keychains, POG slammers, action figures--you name it. Most of the sounds tend to suggest "laser" or machine guns.
Anyway, I sampled these 8 electronic sounds off my brother's slammer with my microphone. No, they're not high-quality, but if you know of any secret digital audio output port on these things you're welcome to try to do better. They're all good enough for system beeps and the like.
Try them out and you'll know what I'm talking about. If you are young, they'll bring back good memories of cheap, plastic, imported, electronic trash. If you are old, replace "good" with "bad" / "annoying" / "at-least-they-were-better-than-Nintendo" / etc.
